The Wait is Over: BJA provides over $3 Million for BWC
With additional funding in 2022, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and Justice & Security Strategies, Inc. (JSS) announced their second round of funding for body worn-cameras for small, rural and tribal (SRT) agencies. Awards are in process for 140 jurisdictions across the country. Impacts of BWCs on Police: What do we know in the short-term and long-term?
The first controlled experiment of the effects of BWCs was conducted in Rialto, CA in 2012-2013. This mid-size city of 107,000 with about 150 sworn and civilian employees tested the use of cameras on 54 patrol officers over a one-year period. Read more…
